This author studies in this book the development of catechetical practice starting with the apostolic times, addressing in detail the golden century (IV) of patristic literature and continuing until the Early Middle Ages, when adult catechumenate as a whole practically ceased to exist. At the same time, the present study aims to follow the positive development of the teaching of faith according to the primary catechesis and not according to the polemical literature. Apart from the main objective, this study also aims to show that the history of dogmatics can no longer ignore the history of the catechumenate. It developed from the sermon, from the duty of systematically exposing the foundations of the Christian faith to the heathen.
